EU Business School Munich Academic Policy

THE INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH-SPEAKING BUSINESS SCHOOL IN MUNICH, GERMANY

COURSE LOAD

Program course load is measured in credit hours. Each credit hour represents one weekly class hour. Thus a three-credit class equals three hours of classroom time per week. Preparation time of between one to one-and-a-half hours for each credit hour is assumed.

CLASS ATTENDANCE

Students must attend all courses for which they are registered. If illness prevents them from attending class, they should notify the Administration Department and make arrangements to complete missed assignments.

A medical certificate must be presented to the Dean for absences longer than three days. Anyone who stops attending a course without notifying the university or officially withdrawing will receive a failing grade.

Two or more unexcused absences may lead to a course grade reduction.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate/Bachelor’s programs

In order to receive their bachelor’s degree, students must complete the program with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. In addition, students at EU Business School Munich must present and defend a thesis as well as two final case studies (one marketing case and one related to the student’s major).

Graduate/MBA programs

In order to receive their MBA degree, students must complete each term, and the overall program, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. In addition, students at EU Munich must present and defend a final capstone (thesis) project related to their specialization.

Honors

EU Business School awards the following academic honors:

    cum laude for a cumulative GPA of 3.20-3.49;

    magna cum laude for a cumulative GPA of 3.50-3.79;

    summa cum laude for a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above.

Graduation with academic honors represents outstanding work within the requirements of a given major or specialization and significant effort in addition to those minimum requirements. Excellence in these areas is measured by overall GPA, performance in designated gateway courses within a major and completion of a thesis.

ACADEMIC HONESTY

Academic honesty is a fundamental value in education. EU Business School enforces a strict academic ethics code to which all students must adhere. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to: plagiarism, attempted theft of academic records or examinations and alteration of grades. Any of these offenses will result in automatic failure of the course and/or expulsion from the university.
